Iowa’s Law
As of July 29, 2024, Iowans cannot legally obtain abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. Per the law’s wording, the only exceptions are in the cases of:
rapes that are “reported within forty-five days of the incident to a law enforcement agency or to a public or private health agency which may include a family physician,”
“incest which is reported within one hundred forty days of the incident to a law enforcement agency or to a public or private health agency which may include a family physician,”
miscarriages “if not all of the products of conception are expelled,” and
“fetal abnormality” as determined by “the attending physician” is “incompatible with life.”
TL;DR: You can’t get an abortion after six weeks of pregnancy unless you’ve reported a recent rape/incest, miscarried incompletely, or if your doctor deems the pregnancy nonviable.
Even the TL;DR is too complicated. Which is how the regime wants it.
