Goodies: Van Veen Chocolates

Come for the Dutch letters. Stay for the chocolate.

If you’re anything like Hubster and I, you make trips to Pella a couple of times a year to snag all the Jaarsma Bakery treats. $50 later, it might seem like that’s enough time and money spent in Pella. As cute as that town is, it was still a sundown town, and unfortunately, some residents haven’t let that nonsense go.

But free from that nonsense is a stop I highly recommend: Van Veen Chocolates.

Outside the main square along Franklin Street are a door and a window outlined with cream-colored paint. A dark green sign above those reads in script “Van Veen” and then the word “Chocolates” in a serif font.

It’s much the same look as their sleek boxes.
